You will need a vehicle access permit (VAP) to drive on recreation areas of Cooloola.

All vehicles must be registered and your permit clearly displayed on your vehicle for inspection by authorised officers.

There are now fixed and roving cameras to detect and issue fines to vehicles without permits

Camping Permits

Before camping in Cooloola Recreational Area you will need to make a booking and pay your camping fees to get a permit and you need to purchase your Cooloola Vehicle Access Permit (VAP).

Exemption Holders - Note that vehicles with exemptions do not need a Vehicle Access Permit (VAP).

A new rule has been introduced by National Parks that all campers are to carry and use a portable toilet. (Dump points exist at Freshwater and the second cutting).

Camping Fires

Fires are no longer allowed in National Park (including camping grounds)

Fires (and camping) have never been allowed within Noosa Shire (Noosa River to start of Cooloola camping)
